A lifelong learning experience

  • Bachelor’s degree programmes

It is fundamental that BDP continue offering a sound education, aimed at developing  the core competencies, and an appropriate mindsetoriented to methodological rigour and critical thinking when dealing with complex problems; however, a wider use of innovative teaching methods has to be introduced, as well. It will be also necessary to review the structure of the internships and to boost our orientation activities.

  • Professional Bachelor’s degree programmes

Politecnico di Torino intends to monitor carefully the demand for human resources from local companies and institutions, paying special attention to SMEs. This may lead to design a new degree programme to train mid-level technical professionals who should be able to enter quickly the labour market. This three-year professionalizing academic path will focus on manufacturing, mechatronics and textile engineering.

  • Master's degree programmes

Our innovative teaching actions will be significantlyintensified. In fact, through the higher maturity of Master’s students the existing constraints will be reduced (such as the number of hours dedicated to frontal lectures corresponding to each ECTS) and more flexibility to our programmes will be provided. More emphasis will be put on interdisciplinary activities and on the development of innovation-centred design competences.

  • Doctoral School

In the past years, the Doctoral School has been able to significantly increase the number of candidates, the interactions with private firms and its international dimension, fostering a tighter integration with our Master’s degree programmes.

  • Specializing Master’s Programmes and Lifelong Learning School

In the field of Specializing Masters’ programmes offered on the free market without public funding and non-degree educational activities, it will be necessary to rely on experience to explore the most suitable organisational and operational tools, in order to work effectively and responsively in such a competitive international environment, in particular by establishing a closer cooperation with specialized partners and top-level business schools and through a closer coordination with the Doctoral School.

  • Post lauream

Politecnico di Torino intends to be active also in the period that follows its students’ graduation (post lauream). In fact, our Universityacknowledges that our alumni are still part of the academic community, though in different ways. They are an extremely important source of experiences, competencies, perspectives and relationships that we need to promote to the benefit of the entire community, and especially for the younger generations. At the same time, our alumni are professionals who might be in need of lifelong learning opportunities, considering that technologies are evolving rapidly, professional life becomes longer, and career paths require more and more flexibility. Politecnico di Torino understands the importance of developing stronger links with its former students.
