ANALYSIS

The goal of Politecnico di Torino is to continue to provide top-level education for a significant amount of students. Nevertheless, today our University is not able to provide teaching services to all the students who apply for admission, since there are four considerable constraints:

• the educational background of our prospective students
• very low number of faculty members
• administrative services affected by the standstill of the staff turnover
• significant lack in infrastructures for teaching

Our goal is to intervene on these constraints and moderate their effects.

DECISIONS

• Development of improved evaluation methodologies for the incoming students; to keep implementing the existing support activities to help students with difficulties
• Investments in new positions for lecturers, especially in disciplinary fields with a too high student-to-faculty ratio
• Recognition of educational experience for lecturer career progression
• Simplification and automation of administrative processes
• Close coordination between the detailed planning of the spaces and the new pedagogical formats (laboratories, classrooms for project-based courses, spaces equipped and dedicated to student teams), according to our Masterplan.
